What is hijama?

An ancient remedy, practised with modern care

Hijama — Arabic for “drawing out” — is a form of cupping therapy in which cups create gentle suction on the skin. In wet hijama, small superficial incisions allow a small amount of blood to be drawn. It has been practised for centuries and holds a special place in Islamic tradition.

“Indeed, the best of remedies you have is hijama.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari

Rooted in the Sunnah

Hijama was practised and recommended by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who said it is among the best of remedies.
